Before your visit
Describe visible loose or deteriorated timber at the joint and the wider structure. Existing safe views are sufficient; keeping clear of loose or falling pieces protects access while assessment is arranged.
Safe existing photos are optional; email them to admin@melonemaintenance.com.au if useful. A description is enough to request assessment.

Pergola Timber Joints and Deteriorated Connections
The timber and its supporting connection work together, so a new visible piece cannot compensate for an unresolved support problem. Describe loose or fallen material from safe ground access. The condition determines whether local repair or further specialist assessment is appropriate.
A damaged surface board, a loose connection and a weakened supporting member require different decisions. The useful distinction is which timber is affected and what it supports. Local repair and finishing should be separated from work on posts, beams or structural connections; covering a deteriorated joint does not resolve the condition behind it.
