How can I contact MEL ONE?
Call 0416 614 281 or email admin@melonemaintenance.com.au to discuss your repair. Our office is at 63 Pirie St Adelaide SA 5000; please contact us to arrange an appointment before visiting.
What details should I include?
Describe the job, your suburb or postcode, preferred timing and the best way to contact you. Photos are optional; email safe existing images to admin@melonemaintenance.com.au. We assess the job on site and confirm the work plan and written quote.
How are specialist requests handled?
Tell us your suburb and the job details. We arrange an on-site assessment, review the reported concern and confirm the proposed scope, quote and appointment. For licensed work, our company team confirms its accepted scope and required qualifications before work begins. Safe existing photos are optional and can be emailed to admin@melonemaintenance.com.au.
Can I include several household jobs in one enquiry?
Yes. Send a list grouped by room or outdoor area, with a brief description of each job. MEL ONE checks the tasks on site, identifies work that can be combined and confirms the scope, visit arrangements and quote.
What should be confirmed before a visit?
MEL ONE confirms whether the visit is for assessment or agreed repair work, what is included, who can approve it and the access arrangements. We discuss materials and the quote, then confirm your appointment directly.
Should I buy parts or materials before enquiring?
Include the product name, instructions and details of any parts you already have. Discuss suitability and who will supply materials before buying replacements. Existing fittings, dimensions and site conditions may affect what is appropriate for the agreed task.
How should I prepare for an agreed visit?
Confirm who will provide access and mention parking, shared entrances or room-use restrictions. Keep the list, product instructions and agreed parts accessible, and plan for children and pets to stay away from the work area. Discuss heavy obstacles instead of moving them yourself.
What if the job changes after the visit starts?
Tell us about the changed condition or extra task. We discuss any change to the proposed work, materials, timing and quote with you before additional work proceeds. Items needing separate assessment are kept outside the original agreed scope until approved.
What should I check at the end of the visit?
Compare the work discussed with your original list and ask which items remain outstanding. Clarify relevant care information and agreed waste arrangements. If a concern arises later, contact MEL ONE with the job details and safe photos where useful; further work and timing need confirmation.
How much does a handyman repair cost?
We quote after assessing the tasks, condition, parts and access. Your written quote defines the repair work for approval; this site does not list a fixed hourly rate. Contact us before booking about any assessment or minimum call-out charge, labour, materials, travel, waste handling and GST treatment for your request.
Is there a minimum call-out or assessment charge?
Contact us before booking to discuss any assessment or minimum call-out charge and what the visit covers. There is no universal minimum fee listed on this site; an assessment is not advertised as free.
Can I get a fixed quote from photos?
Photos can help explain the job, but measurements, access, damaged material and compatible parts may need checking on site. MEL ONE confirms the assessed scope and written quote before work is approved. Photos are optional.
Are you open on weekends or after work?
Business hours are 09:00–21:00, seven days a week, in Adelaide local time. Tell us your preferred visit window. Appointment timing and any out-of-hours arrangements are confirmed for the request; opening hours do not guarantee same-day attendance.
Can I arrange repairs for a parent or family member?
Yes. Identify the resident, access contact and person authorised to approve the work and quote. Agree how updates will be shared. For an older resident, tell MEL ONE the preferred communication method, access needs and any support requested; confirm what can be arranged before booking. Ordinary home repairs do not establish funded care, specialist adaptations or a pensioner concession. Sensitive entry details can be arranged directly once the visit is confirmed, keeping them out of the initial form.
Are pensioner discounts or funded services automatically included?
Any concession or funded-service arrangement needs its eligibility and availability confirmed for the particular repair. Ask about any actual discount, programme participation and eligibility before approving the quote. A family-arranged booking or the resident's age does not establish either entitlement; the repair scope and total charge still need agreement.
Does the handyman label remove South Australian licence requirements?
No. The actual work and applicable licence conditions determine authorisation. SA guidance requires a building contractor licence for a business carrying out or organising building work for others, with appropriate registered supervision. Plumbing, gas fitting and electrical businesses require the corresponding contractor licence, and people doing the physical trade work require the relevant worker registration. Check the licence and conditions applicable to our company team’s proposed work with Consumer and Business Services before approval; a handyman label or ABN is not a substitute.
What should I check before hiring a handyman?
Check the company identity, relevant licence or qualification for the actual work, applicable insurance documents, repair scope and written quote. An ABN identifies a business but does not establish every trade authorisation. MEL ONE’s own company team confirms the accepted work and required qualifications before work begins.
Why does my gutter still overflow after cleaning?
Clearing leaves addresses debris, not every possible fault. Note where water spills and whether an outlet or downpipe appears affected from the ground. Gutter alignment, damaged joints and downstream drainage need separate consideration. Ask us to distinguish the cleaning scope from any further repair assessment.
Can a rain-related water stain be patched or painted straight away?
Water-entry repairs and covering a visible mark address different issues. First establish what has been done about the source and whether the affected material is ready for repair. Tell us about remaining dampness, soft board or repeat staining. Local patching, trim work and painting are then defined separately; specialist drying is a different service scope.
Why does water enter around a window only in wind-driven rain?
The rain pattern is useful information, but it does not identify the fault. Record the first wet edge and whether the frame, wall junction or sill is affected. Seals, joints and drainage paths may need different checks. We assess the requested repair and confirm whether a separate specialist investigation is needed; sealing every gap is not a diagnosis.
What should I report if a room smells musty after rain?
Give the room, timing, known water entry and any visible staining without disturbing materials. A smell does not identify mould type or show that hidden layers are dry. We can discuss the related household-repair request, but professional moisture investigation, drying and mould remediation need separately confirmed arrangements before cosmetic repairs.
Does a leaning fence after rain need repair or replacement?
The posts, rails, connections and extent of deterioration determine the options, not the visible lean alone. Tell us which sections move, any broken boards and nearby persistent wet ground. Local timber repair and wider replacement need separate assessment. A retaining wall or unstable support needs suitable specialist attention; keeping the fence at rest reduces the risk of further movement.
What should a quote for several post-rain repairs separate?
Separate the reported water-entry issue, any specialist investigation or drying, the damaged material, local repairs and the agreed finish. Include access, parts, waste handling, approval and the sequence of visits. Send your suburb and observed problems through our existing enquiry form; optional safe existing photos can be emailed. A request does not confirm attendance or an emergency response.
