Before your visit
Say whether the gate drags, swings freely or needs lifting to latch. Describe normal-use symptoms without forcing it; existing hinge and latch images can help.
Safe existing photos are optional; email them to admin@melonemaintenance.com.au if useful. A description is enough to request assessment.
What to confirm in the repair quote · Prepare a useful assessment request
Side Gate Latch Contact and Hinge Movement
Lifting may temporarily line up the latch while movement remains at the hinges or post. Relocating the latch alone can leave the underlying misalignment. Report any dragging and where contact occurs; gate support and closing alignment need assessment together.
A latch missing its keeper can follow gate movement, hinge wear or a change in the supporting post. The clearance at the ground and the condition of hinge and latch fixings help define the repair. Moving the latch alone may not solve a gate that is dropping on weakened supports.
Regional example — Mile End
This photographed case took place in Mile End, not Thebarton. It provides context for discussing a repair; the task and scope at your property need their own assessment.
